ATX Brickyard x GORUCK TRAINING SERIES WEEK 6

The Buzzmill

Join us for week 6 of the training series leading up to the GORUCK Ruck – A – Palooza event in April!

Here is what is on deck this week:
We will stay primarily on the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail, working the boardwalk and river path. Starting and ending at The Buzzmill, we’ll head west on the trail, cross over the river, and loop back across the Wishbone Bridge to close out a clean 8-mile route.

Wether you have or have not rucked before, this event is for you. From novices to experts, civilians to veterans, Kids to adults these training events are more than just “Training”.
We walk, we talk, we laugh, and we build a deeper understanding of each other and what makes us tick as humans; all while enjoying the outdoors and getting our steps in.

If you don’t have a ruck that is not a problem, we have several onsite at various weights and sizes to fit anyone.

Make sure to check the weather and wear comfortable clothes for outdoor fitness activity and we can’t wait to see you at Buzzmill and on the trail!

– RECAP TRAINING SERIES WEEK 5 – 8 MILER –
Week five is in the books. We got an early start on this one, heading out Thursday night to scout the route, an 8-mile push weaving from Lakeshore through the woods behind Krieg Fields, past Secret Beach, through Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Park, and up toward the 183 bridge. We caught an incredible sunset and a great view of the city, a solid preview of what was coming.

We duplicated that same RUCK on Sunday morning with the full crew. Cool, brisk weather made for a perfect morning. Strong turnout, with a mix of new faces and seasoned veterans all putting in the work together.

Everyone got the miles and completed all 8!

We wrapped it up back at Buzz Mill with bagels, tacos, coffee and conversation. That’s the right way to finish off any shared struggle!

With that, the Horned Frog (Horned Toad) patch was earned.

About the Austin Chapter

Across cities and towns just like yours nationwide, we serve our communities by starting with bringing different neighbors together for events centered around Service, Leadership, and Civics.

By rolling up our sleeves side-by-side, we can begin to see that we have more in common than what divides us; that first and foremost we are fellow Americans with a common love for our families and communities.

These Chapters – also known as our Brickyards – are mobile places for neighbors to connect and solve local problems. We do this through respectful and open conversations, and to find higher ground as we work together brick-by-brick.
