The Brickyard is partnering with Kinship Tomahawk to spend a friendly summer morning building a Little Free Library and a bench for the community to enjoy. We’re also giving away a limited supply of free kids books, doing a book swap, and providing free coffee and treats! So if you want to swing a hammer, trade some books, chat with your neighbors, or enjoy some refreshments, then STOP BY! We’d love to see you. You can come and go anytime between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.
Kinship Tomahawk is working on some projects. If you live in Tomahawk, maybe you’ve seen the new fence in the Kinship parking lot—that’s going to be an outdoor play space for the kids! To help bring the Kinship grounds to life, The Brickyard is calling on volunteers for some construction projects, the first of which is a Little Free Library and a bench.
During the event, we will assemble the pieces of the library we’ve already started building and then apply the finish to protect it from weather. We also need to build a bench from scratch. Event participants are welcome to join this work in whatever way they feel comfortable. And there is no need to stay the entire time — you can come and go!
If building stuff isn’t your thing, no problem. We’re also giving away a limited supply of free kids books and hosting a book swap! Anyone can pick up a free book (until supplies run out) or bring a book of your own to leave behind and take home a different one. The swap includes books for all ages.
Our goal with this event is not just to swap books and build the Little Library but also to build connections. So we’ll also have some conversation starters floating around to help you meet a new person who loves serving their community—or who loves books and building things—just as much as you do!
