Maina Chen

Marketing Manager

She/Her

Maina Chen is The Brickyard’s Marketing Manager, overseeing content production, social media, communication with members, and more.

As a storyteller who recognizes that building community and bridging understanding depend on what we engage with, she uses her creative insight to find narratives that evoke thought and interest. She has dabbled in a wide array of industries, including video games, marketing, traditional and digital publishing, and journalism.

During the rise of Stop Asian Hate in 2020, she became the managing editor and content curator/manager at the largest online Asian American publication, NextShark. There, she found a duty to uplift neglected Asian communities and amplify nationwide awareness of underreported COVID-19 incidents to reach mainstream coverage while establishing brand integrity and quality control for a surging reader base of over half a million people. During that time, she produced multilevel campaigns, content, and high-profile interviews for the Asian Pacific American Leadership Foundation, Act to Change, Admerasia, the Bruce Lee Foundation, Define American, Twitch, DC Comics, Marvel, McDonald’s, and more.

Maina leads with curiosity to create even more positive, inclusive, and diverse spaces. When she’s not writing too many words, she’s busting out of escape rooms and knee-deep in pop culture and games.
